How to activate Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)?
2FA allows you to protect your account and all its content. We suggest you activate this tool to ensure an additional level of security.
You will need to download the Google Authenticator app:
GA for Android,
GA for iOS.
Open the Step App and log in to your account,
Open the Profile tab,
Click on the Two-Factor Authentication section,
You will be asked to download the Google Authenticator app or to continue, install the app or click on the Continue button,
You will be shown a code that you should copy,
Open your Google Authenticator app,
Click on the + button in the bottom right corner,
Choose the Enter a setup key option,
In the 'Account' field you can name to which app these codes belong, for example, My Step App Account,
We advise you to also specify the email address that you registered the account with.
In the Key field you should paste the code that was given to you earlier,
Click on the Add button to add 2FA to your account,
Get back to the Step App, save your backup codes,
Enter the code that should be sent to your address,
Enter the code from the Google Authenticator and finish the setup of 2FA.
A bunch of backup codes is needed to ensure that you can use one time each in case you will lose your device.
First of all, store these codes somewhere safe or even offline.
Each of these codes can be added to your Google Authenticator app to receive a code to enter. These amount of backup codes are given to ensure that you have plenty of opportunities to turn off your 2FA temporarily if you lose access to your device or in other unexpected situations.
